Insurance Disclosure Form
To all customers:
Please be aware, 95% of the files we handle have zero issues, but we want to make you aware of what does occur at times when dealing with insurance companies. This disclosure is not intended to alarm you, but to inform and educate you on what does occur at times in reference to a few issues.
Please be advised that each insurance company adheres to their own guidelines on rental cars. If you have rental coverage on your policy, your policy allows for 30 days of rental per occurrence. If you are a claimant (a person with insurance damaged your vehicle), every insurance company is obligated by Texas law to provide you with a comparable rental vehicle as long as your vehicle is in the shop.
However, in our opinion and experience, few insurance companies follow the above noted policies and laws. They generally cut rental coverage off well before the repairs are completed in the shop. We cannot help you with these issues. You will have to handle this on your own. We can guide you, but we cannot help you if you are unwilling to help yourself by calling the insurance company and complaining. They will not talk with us about rental issues. They will most likely state that we are the problem, we will not provide them what they need to extend the rental, we will not return their calls, etc. While none of this will be factual, they will most likely state something to this effect anyway. All of our calls are recorded so we can provide you with phone records and recordings, but we cannot help you with rental issues as they will not communicate with any shop on rental issues. Under no circumstance will we pay for rental if the insurance company chooses to terminate rental early. Please refer back to the Q&A in this packet. We follow our own procedures and processes and we cannot always work within the strict guidelines that insurance companies often require.
Our priority is your safety and the quality of the repair, not repairing the vehicle quickly to mitigate rental fees for the insurance companies. Just as most insurance companies will most likely assess and pay for cheap aftermarket and/or used parts, we will still only use genuine new OEM (brand specific) parts at no additional cost to you or your family. We absorb these parts price differences internally because while an insurance company may not be concerned about your safety, quality of repair and/or the value of your vehicle after this accident; we do!
Please be advised that in our opinion and experience, many insurance companies will often total a vehicle even when the repair cost is far below the industry standard total loss threshold. In our opinion and experience, many insurance companies often total cars when the cost of repairs reaches 50% of the insurance companies calculated value. This is not something that we can control or help you with. We are in the business to repair vehicles, not total them; so, we will do what we can to keep your vehicle repairable. However, should the insurance company choose to total the vehicle, there is nothing that we can do to help you. In our opinion and experience many insurance companies are going to base the decision to total or repair a vehicle based on how the insurance company will have the least financial exposure regardless of customer desires, shop estimates, vehicle value, etc.
In our opinion and experience many insurance companies will most likely refuse to pay for I-CAR, your vehicle manufacturer and industry standard positions on what needs to be done after an accident at the collision center for the safety of your family and to ensure that the vehicle is repaired correctly. Examples of these operations are pre/post mechanical computer scans, road test vehicle for safety, water leak test for quality, 4 wheel alignments, tire replacement after any tire/wheel impact, vehicle computer resets, blending paint regardless of color to insure a perfect color match outcome, and many more. We will do our best to demonstrate to the field appraiser that these operations need to be done and base this on published data. However, we can only ask but have no authority to make the insurance company approve these needed and often manufacturer required operations.
While we appreciate and want your business as a client, we have no leverage to help you with the insurance companies. In our opinion and experience many insurance companies are profit & loss driven; and consumer satisfaction, wants and/or desires are rarely, if ever, factored into the claim decisions made. If we have any issues with your insurance company, we will document the issues, and provide you with the information so that you can assist us in getting everything approved that is needed to return your vehicle to pre-accident condition. Once again, 95% of the files we handle have zero issues, but we want to make you aware of what does occur at times when dealing with insurance companies.
Thank you for your trust and business,
